HOWLING HOWLERS

English is a pretty funny language.I know u’ve heard it a thousand times & now it’s just an another cliché.Right. More often than not ,we make it even more funnier. The truth is however hard we may try, whatever be our comfort levels with this language it’s not the mother tongue for a majority of us( my friend ‘firang’ being in that thin minority) & we all(including that ‘firang’ friend of mine) do commit mistakes .Don’t we?Maybe you don’t but I do & whether the other person notices it or not I instantly realize that I’ve made a mistake & that leaves me pretty embarrassed. Yes! it does leave me embarrassed but I try to make sure that next time I don’t goof up the words..

Now , I’ve this spit-it-out-on-your-face attitude for which I’m notorious ( can’t help it anyway). So please guys, if u are reading this write-up & u are the one of those persons who ‘ve made the mistakes mentioned below I apologise(although insincerely ) for making it public.

Recently,I was interviewing my junior folks in the college for selecting them in the Sponsorship committee for our college fest which is now round the corner.I came across one particular guy who, believe me, gave me the laugh of my life.So there we were:

“Do you listen to music? “
“ Yes ,Sir”

“ English or Hindi”
“Both”

“So which all bands do you listen to in English?”

The chap stares at me as though I’ve asked something too personal to feel offended then he replies

“I like Linking PAARAK & BHENGABOYS”

“Wat? I didn’t get you.”
“Sir,Linking PAARAK & BHENGABOYS”

“You mean Linkin Park & Vengaboys”
“Ji, Ji”

“So which all songs of LP do you like?”

Looks up at the ceiling as though he has lost his memory his memory in an accident & is now trying to recall his name.

“Sir, I’m not knowing the names but I’m hearing the songs in the hostel.I like them”

“& wat about your BHENGABOYS”

This time he replies back in a jiffy.

“BRAAJIL”

After the poor soul had gone, I who loves playing the devil’s advocate burst out laughing.

Sometimes I do get to see some equally funny & interesting profiles of people on Orkut, which is spreading faster than a wildfire among Gen-X. See for yourself

About me: I’m a cool,calm & COMPOSING guy.

About me:I’m a 21 yr old guy with a Nice Figure .

About me:I’m still trying to Figuring it out.. .

Perfect match: Hrithik Roshan man he’s Flattering.

Interests:I’m a shooter.I go hunting for friends with my birds.

Ok! The last one would definitely have been an inadvertent mistake but about rest I can’t say the same & the funny thing is that I keep visiting their profiles to check whether they’ve corrected those howlers or not but ,dude, they are still safely hanging on there .

& yea about the howlers I commit. They are ,in fact, so numerous(one being in the last sentence itself!!) that I don’t even remember one.So what I’m trying to say ( to you as well as to myself) is that Ok! If you’ve learnt something new ,use it.but just because you’ve learnt it doesn’t mean that you HAVE to use it ,” Niece figure” instance being a case in point & it’s better to let others know what you really know rather than just pretending to know what you don’t .”Bhengaboys & LP” instance being the case in point.

Yea,I’m sure your razor sharp minds would’ve definitely noticed the howlers in this write-up itself.Drop in your comments if you’ve & also plz feel free to share some other howlers even if they are too embarrassing for you or maybe for me :).

Cheers!!!
